WE083A Ballast load for Dapol MJA!
Welcome to Wagon Essentials, the site to purchase realistic wagon loads for OO Scale model rail layouts!
Wagon Essentials was created in 2011 and this website launched in 2013 to cater for a market which was in my mind very poorly supplied, considering the amount of money modelers spend on their rolling stock for their layouts the choice of realistic loads to fill the vast amount of empty wagons is next to none! You seemed to have two choices, run your wagons constantly empty, which for 50% of the time in real life is not very realistic, or load them with very poor plastic or very heavy resin loads.
Having myself been interested in railways both n model and real life format from an early age I would like to think I now have an eye for detail for making something which is as realistic as possible and something that you as well would be proud to have on your very own layout.
All of my loads are designed by myself and each one is individually made by hand with a professionally cut polystyrene base to be as perfect as possible, with the ballast, limestone and stone loads the highest quality correct scale model railway material is used. Each and every load is unique, as mentioned before they are hand made so every single one has a very slight variation to it just as in real life, so whether your train is conveying 20 seacows or a MRA set your layout will represent the real life version as close as possible.
The coal loads that I have also designed are also as realistic as possible and again each one is hand made with a light professionally cut polystyrene base each one has been carefully covered in real crushed coal for ultimate realism, so if you have a train of as many of the current EWS HTA's or the Freightliner equivalent HHA's on your layout your train will look like it has just been loaded at a coal silo loading point ready to head of to a power station with a hefty load of coal, the beauty in the design of these loads is they weigh next to nothing so not only do they put no strain on your locomotive how ever many it is hauling they do not make the wagon unstable either, for the older style coal wagons in the shape of the once numerous HAA (or equivalent) or HEA the loads for these have the same principle but each one is designed to look like the wagon is heaped high with coal just like in the good old days! Also available for the 16T mineral wagon and MEA are 'lumped coal' these are produced with a slightly larger grain of coal visible to represent house hold coal which also used to be a common sight around the UK.
Another of my loads which is available for several of the shorter wheelbase engineering wagons such as the MFA or MTA is sand, again made using a polystyrene base to keep them lightweight and then covered with the best fine modeler sand available, still a regular site on lots of engineering trains these sand loads really do complement a layout very well.
Please don't just take my word for it, please browse the customer review section to see what other people think of my products, Wagon Essentials has grown from a 'hobby' into a full time business within a year and the products featured on this site are now stocked in Model Railways Direct in Portishead near Bristol which is hopefully a sign of the quality that you will be purchasing!
If there are any wagons that you would like loads for that I don't currently stock or a different load for a wagon that I already produce for simply drop me a message and I am always happy to help as I want you to have the perfect product to enhance your layout
